This river, which flows only a stone’s throw away, is unique: it is a beautiful, jagged river whose contours are constantly changing. Its islets and banks, which change every time due to the ever-changing currents, are a surprising sight each time. It is therefore great to take a bike ride along the Loire, enjoy the sun on the beaches along the river or hire a canoe and enjoy it from the water.
The Loire rises in the Massif Central, but there is some debate as to where the real source is. In fact, there are two; the first near a farm and the second source is a little further away in a meadow. The river flows into the Atlantic Ocean some 1012 km further.
Because of its uniqueness, much of the river valley is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
And should you fancy a day at the beach, that is even possible! Near the town of Nevers (about 30 south of Le Corbier), a fully equipped beach can be found “Nevers Plage” during the months of July and August. All kinds of fun (family) activities are also organised here.
